“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela

How can we ensure women’s health issues get the attention they deserve in medicine? The healthcare system should confront the existing imbalance by truly listening to women’s voices in order to improve outcomes, and prioritize equitable care in the fight against cancer.

To shed some light on this subject, we are delighted to welcome back to our conference Dr. Ioana Stănculescu. Her speech will emphasize how patient-centered education equips future doctors to improve outcomes in women’s cancer care by fostering empathy, understanding, and advocacy.

After earning her medical degree from the “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj, she embarked on a path in Pediatric Neurology. Her interest in education and continuous learning led her to become a teaching assistant in the Molecular Sciences Department, specialising in Medical Genetics. Dr. Stănculescu’s commitment to advancing her knowledge led her to pursue dual master’s degrees-one in Medicine and another in the Sciences of Education-highlighting her dedication to both education and patient care.

In her role as a patient navigator at the Integrated Breast Pathology Center, Thyroid Pathology Center, Regina Maria Hospital, she symbolises the synergy between medical expertise and compassionate care. Dr. Stănculescu exemplifies how healthcare professionals can bridge the gap between clinical practice and patient advocacy, ensuring that women facing complex diagnoses receive not only the best medical treatment but also the guidance, education, and emotional support they need throughout their journey. Her work emphasizes the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration and innovative approaches to improving patient outcomes in women’s health.

Join Dr. Ioana Stănculescu in May to see how education is the tool that clears the path to a healthcare system that thrives on unity, compassion and equality.
