Dr. Mihaela Oros, a renowned pediatrician and expert in pediatric sleep medicine, will delve into the intricate relationship between sleep and human development. Highlighting the impact on brain growth, learning, memory, and overall well-being, she will elucidate the crucial role of circadian rhythms and the influence of external cues on sleep patterns, especially during critical developmental stages.

Dr. Mihaela Oros has dedicated her career to advancing sleep medicine in Romania. With this goal in mind, she became a doctor in medical sciences and a specialist in pneumology, with further specialisation in pediatric sleep medicine and polysomnography at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, USA. She has credentials in Pediatric Sleep Medicine Levels I+II and Epidemiology of Non-Communicable Diseases. Dr. Oros has attended numerous postgraduate courses and medical symposiums in France, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia, and Taiwan.

Her efforts spearheaded initiatives to raise awareness about sleep disorders in children and adolescents. Her contributions include coordinating and funding the Pediatric Sleep Center at Ponderas Academic Hospital, being an active member of the Romanian Society of Pneumology, and the European Respiratory Society, and serving on the Board of Directors of the Sleep Section of the Romanian Society of Pneumology. Since 2010, she has been a national delegate of GINA (Global Initiative for Asthma) – a global forum involved in improving the care of patients with asthma. Since 2014, she has been the Editor-in-Chief of the “Somnologie pediatrică – Romanian Journal of Pediatric Sleep Medicine” and is the editor of a website dedicated to parents about children’s sleep.
