Lucian Ciolan
”Be so good they can’t ignore you!” – Steve Martin
When it comes to learning, does forgetting something we memorised mean we start over, or does it mean we start stronger? The willingness to revise turns forgotten lessons into opportunities for mastering any subject.
To explore this topic further, we are delighted to welcome Lucian Ciolan to HEART 2025. His speech delves into the idea that learning isn’t a straight line—it’s a cycle of forgetting and rediscovery that deepens understanding over time. True education embraces this iterative process, turning the act of relearning into the foundation for lasting knowledge and critical thinking.
He has dedicated his career to improving the educational system, thus he is currently a Professor at the department of educational sciences specialised in educational research and social policy, learning mechanisms and behavioural change, advanced research methods in education; policy analysis and development, and last but not least, learning, training and human development.
Furthermore, he activates as Vice-Rector at the University of Bucharest, responsible for coordinating development projects, lifelong learning and educational infrastructure.
This year’s theme highlights that no pawn becomes a queen without undergoing a transformational process. As future agents of the healthcare system, education is the foundation of our development, so join Lucian Ciolan in May to explore how learning and relearning serve as our allies in reaching our full potential.
