Visa and invitation letter
Some foreign students need to possess a Schengen visa to be able to take part in HEART.
To determine if you are in this category, please take a look here.
All the general information about a Schengen visa can be found here. Please bear in mind that the embassy in your country may ask for specific extra documents and/or information, so make sure to take a look at the site and the requirements of the Romanian embassy in your country.
If you plan on only visiting Romania during your visit you have to go to the Romanian embassy in your country. If you want to visit multiple countries, please apply for your visa at the embassy from the country that is the main destination (in terms of length of the stay).
If you need to apply for a visa, we will send you an official invitation letter. This document should aid in your visa application process. During the registration process you will be asked if you need a visa. If this is the case, tick the appropriate box and fill in your passport number. Then, after purchasing your tickets, please also request one by sending an email with ‘INVITATION LETTER’ in the subject to heartcluj.secretariat@gmail.com. This way we can get back to you as quickly as possible after purchase. We can only provide you with an invitation letter if you have already bought a ticket
How to get to Cluj-Napoca
By Plane
“Avram Iancu” International Airport Cluj-Napoca (CLJ)
- The local airport is fairly well connected with over 50 destitanions.
- From the Airport the A1, 5 and 8 bus lines will take to the city.
“Henry Coanda” International Airport Bucharest (OTP)
- The biggest airport in Romania in the capital of the country.
- From the airport you will need to get to “Gara de Nord” train station either using the dedicated TFC AEROPORT train line or a taxi service/rideshare, we strongly recommend the dedicated train line as it will be significantly cheaper and faster.
- From the train station there are a few train lines that travel to Cluj-Napoca depending on the time of your arrival.
- Alternatively you can take a bus service such as FlexiBus to get to Cluj-Napoca.
